From the Every Moment Counts team

Welcome to the Every Moment Counts website!

Welcome to the Every Moment Counts website!

How can you collectively create a mental health promoting school for all children and youth that you serve? The materials shared on this website are intended to help you do that! Our hope is that you'll spend some time reading and reflecting on the information provided in the top tabs before moving on to the model programs and strategies provided in the side tabs. Use information provided on this website to foster reflection and discussion among your interdisciplinary school teams.

As we launch this website, here are a couple 'announcements' and suggestions:

  • Implement the Comfortable Cafeteria and Refreshing Recess Programs during the 2014-15 school year. All of the materials needed to implement the Creating a Comfortable Cafeteria and Refreshing Recess programs are provided in full - including video clips and free, downloadable posters, bookmarks and lesson plans. Think about implementing one of these programs in the Fall and the other in the Spring. Pick one grade level to begin with. This makes implementation manageable. Occupational therapy practitioners are ideal for leading the implementation, but collaboration with other relevant and interested school personal and parent volunteers is essential for success.
  • Coming Soon! During the upcoming months, the remaining model programs and resources will be added to this website, beginning with Embedded Classroom Strategies followed by After School Activities and the Building Capacity materials for OTs, School Professionals and families. I will keep you updated in the Latest News tab and on our Facebook page.
  • Check out the videos! To get a better sense of our programs, make sure to view our video clips located in the Comfortable Cafeteria, Refreshing Recess, and Embedded Strategies sidebar tabs.

Acknowledgements: I am grateful for the support of Cathy Csayni, Educational Consultant for the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), Office of Exceptional Children (OEC). Her advocacy has been instrumental in making this work possible.
